Kiana Martin, therapist intern

St. Charles, IL and Telehealth

Couples/Relationships – Depression- Anxiety – Women’s Issues – LGBTQ+ Issues

Kiana is pursuing a Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy at Adler University. She is also pursuing a Certificate in Sex Therapy at Adler while she finishes her degree.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist in Training, Kiana understands that people are more than a diagnosis and that our community and resources have just as much an impact on us as our social circles. She believes that communication and developing a deeper understanding of oneself, the family histories we carry, and the influences of
society are essential tools in helping clients grow.

Kiana uses strategic questions to help clients gain insight into their lives and asks clients what they hope to achieve and about the ideal lives they want to lead. This ensures that while clients can look at how the past and present impacts them, they also have an aim for the future.

Kiana received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Illinois University.
During her time there, she was a Research Assistant for the Science of BDSM Research Team. The team’s mission is to understand the dynamics and values of relationships and destigmatize the community. Kiana brings that experience forward as she pursues Sex Therapy with the philosophy that every relationship is unique, and no one size fits all when it comes to how we love others. She hopes to break down shame when it comes to knowing ourselves so that we may embrace ourselves to the fullest in all aspects of our lives.
